NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION

The Valparaiso Lakes Area Conservancy District (VLACD) will convene its annual meeting on February 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the VLACD offices located at 1805 Burlington Beach Road, Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana.There will be one contested election for the Governing Board position representing Directorship Area V (Burlington Beach South). The candidates for that position are Walter Breitinger and Brian Niksch. Eligible voters must be freeholders (landowners as certified by the Porter County Auditor) within the boundaries of Directorship Area V and satisfy the eligibility criteria prescribed in IC 14-33-5-5) Eligible freeholders can vote in person at the VLACD offices during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) on February 18, 2026. Eligible freeholders may also vote by absentee ballot. However, the ballot must arrive at the VLACD offices no later than 4:30 p.m. on February 17, 2026. Absentee ballots may be requested by phone at 219-464-3770 or on the VLACD.org website. Absentee ballots will be mailed starting January 28, 2026. At the annual meeting, the successful candidate will be sworn in for a four-year term. 

The Governing Board will organize and elect from its membership a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. Any and all interested freeholders are encouraged to attend the annual meeting with questions and/or concerns regarding any aspect of VLACD operations.
